ENGLAND TO CAPETOWN
YOUNG FLIER’S INTENTION.
WILL ATTEMPT NEW RECORD.
London, Nov. 23.
Victor Smith, the young South African
airman, announces that next month he will attempt to break Mrs. Mollison’s recently-created England to Capetown flight, record of 102 hours 52 minutes. Smith made a forced landing in the desert through shortage of fuel early while attempting to break the CapetownLondon record. Explaining the mishap, Smith says he landed in the desert 35 miles from Bori. He attracted the attention of some camel-drivers, and induced them to go to Bori for petrol. They were away two days, and in the meantime he cleared a runway bj hand. t
