WANDERING STOCK.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I notice in your issue of Saturday a letter written by one who signed himself “Motorist,” complaining about farmers grazing their cattle on Brewer Road. I am a farmer and I do not feed mine on the road, nor does any other farmer on this road to my knowledge, so I take it that “Motorist” must be alluding to a man who is on the unemployed list, through no fault of his own, and who milks three (not “several”) cows, and feeds them on the road during the day. At night-time they are in the paddock. “Motorist” says he was “told” this man had a “house but no ground,”' and that he “believes” one of the councillors lives on the road. That is true, and the councillor concerned is quite qualified to look after the interests of the riding. It is a great pity “Motorist” was not also “told” that the man he refers to, who has a crushed foot and will be a cripple for life, has a wife and seven small children. I notice in the same issue of your paper an appeal from Mrs. Collins to help country children spend a happy Christmas. How different the feeling of humanity there! I wonder if “Motorist” is aware that we farmers ‘ on the Brewer Road have raised loan after loan to form, widen and metal the road, and have been paying rates ever since to kep it in good order for the use of socalled “Motorist,” who probably has never paid anything to its upkeep. If “Motorist” would drive in a steady manner and take the corners carefully he need never fear a serious accident as he “foresees.”—l am, etc., J. DROMGOOL. Strathmore, November 28.
