She is scheduled to clear Wellingr ton finally on Saturday for London, 8 Glasgow, Liverpool and Avonmouth, via " Cape Horn, Montevideo and Dakar. a PAINT EFFECT ON EYES. r . The years-old custom of paintifig white 1 the deckhouses of Orient liners is likely . to be altered as a result of an experi- . ment being tried on the 20,000-ton liner j Orama. On a recent voyage to England • from Australia Sir Walter Baynham, t the Orient Company’s marine superin- . tendent in London, found that the whitet painted deckhouses reflected a glare - somewhat uncomfortable to passengers on deck. It is interesting to note that a psychologist and an eye specialist were brought into consultation to overcome the trouble. As a result the offending deckhouses are to be painted a very light French grey. This does not mean that the familiar colouring of Orient liners—black hull, white superstructure and buff funnels—will be affected from the point of view of those who are not on board the steamer.
