REGENT TO-NIGHT. BRITISH SUPER COMEDY. Fun will be the order at the Regent Theatre to-night where the British Dominion’s super comedy production Up for the Cup,” will be screened— good, wholesome fun of a variety of which moviegoers never tire and which is guaranteed to make even a cat laugh. 1 e comical antics of Sydney Howard as the Yorkshireman who journeys up to London with his lady-love to view the celebrated Cup final is positively uproarious, and his is a characterisation that will be much appreciated in New Plymouth. Cast in an altogether different role from those in which we have been accustomed to seeing him, this production certainly gives Howard plenty of scope to add more laurels to his crown of fame. Mr Jack Raymond, who directed, handled the making of this film with the rare touch for which he is noted. Laughs come thick and fast and when you are not chuckling, you are thrilling at a superlative display of football by England’s premier teams of 1931-32.. Pretty Peggy Wyndham heads the supporting cast. The accompanying programme is all British and will include Herald News, “Playtime at London Zoo” (interest), “Sunday Clothes” (playlet), “Old Flame” (cartoon) and “On the Levee (novelty). funniest of all. COMEDY AT KAPONGA. Funny as “Rookery Nook,” “Plunder,” “Tons of Money” and “Canaries Sometimes Sing” were, Ralph Lynn in The Chance of a Night Time” beats the proverbial band. Lynn proves himself to be the funniest man on the screen, with his nearest competitor nowhere within miles of him. There are gales of laughter emanating from “The Chance of a Night Time,” and interest is heightened by the inclusion of a few catchy musical items and a specialty dance that takes the breath away. Lynn has been holding out on talkie audiences all this time, for few of us suspected him in the slightest degree of having any claims to vocal ability. But he does sing in “The Chance of a Night Time,” which seems to us might well have been called the laugh of a life time! The comedy will be .shown at Kaponga to-night.
