POLICE OFFICER TO RETIRE

SENIOR-SERGEANT H. McCRORIE. AT NEW PLYMOUTH 13 YEARS. Senior-Sergeant H. McCrorie, who has been stationed at New Plymouth for the past 13 years, is to retire from the Police Force at the middle of next month. Senior-Sergeant McCrorie came originally from Green Island, Dunedin. In 1895 he joined the Permanent Artillery, but a year later was appointed a constable at the Mt. Cook station, Wellington. His next move was to Christchurch and Sydenham, where he spent eight or nine years. After being con-stable-in-charge at the Papanui station he returned to Wellington to become a section sergeant. Going to Westport in 1913, Senior-Sergeant McCrorie served there through the troublous times of the strike and the war period until, six and a-half years later, he was promoted to New Plymouth.
