RIFLE CLUBS’ SHIELD MATCH

NEW PLYMOUTH DEFEAT OKATO. TROPHY CHALLENGE SUSTAINED. A match for the Taranaki Associated Rifle Clubs’ Challenge Shield was fired between the New Plymouth and Okato branches of the New Plymouth Defence Rifle Club at the Okato rifle range during the week-end. The challenge was frpm the Okato branch to the New Plymouth branch, but was fired on the Seaview range as the Rewa Rewa range at New Plymouth was not available. Conditions were fairly easy for good shooting, for, though a fairly strong breeze was blowing from the left rear it was steady. The conditions were reflected in the high standard of the shooting done by the New Plymouth team, G. H. Taylor just missing the century over the three ranges, 300, 500 and 600 yards, the possible for which is 105. De-
