Masterton, November 18. “The year under" review has, like the preceding one, been most difficult, although the total of our sales is only some 500 tons below the 8800 tons which were put out last year,” state the directors of the Mauriceville Lime Company, in their 16th annual report. “This is due, doubtless, to the realisation by farmers of the value of lime as an aid to production, and to the reduced price and increased allowances which enable shareholders to buy at as low a price as 12s. 3Jd. per ton. An increased turnover is very much to be desired. The works ate capable of an output' of about 90 tons per day, and if the output could be brought up to 15,000 or 20,000 tons per year, not only would the balance of the profit and loss account improve, but it is possible that a further reduction could

be made in price. The net profit fro™ the lime business, after providing £s9b for depreciation, was only £233, but the company’s investments earned a further £456, so that £689 has been added to the appropriation account, which shows a balance of £2409. Your directors recommend the payment of a dividend o_ 6 per cent, on the paid-up capital. Under the articles of association Messrs. Campbell, Gray and Marshall retire from the board, but‘are eligible and offer themselves for re-election. Mr. G. W. Sellar, the retiring auditor, offers his services for a further term.
