Many splendid crops of lucerne have been cut and converted into ensilage during the past fortnight in the Otumoetai, Wairoa and Te Puna districts, Bay of Plenty. The harvesting of hay will commence within the next week or two. The planting of maize crops is well forward, but is not yet completed. The acreage on Matakana and Motiti Islands and on the mainland will be much greater than last year. Crops of early potatoes are looking well and digging has commenced. There is a splendid growth of grass all over the district, and herds are now at the maximum yield.
