ATHLETIC CLUB MEETING. A special meeting of the Inglewood Athletic Club, called to elect delegates for the annual Taranaki meeting and to discuss the sports, was held on Friday evening, when the president, Mr. W. Stevens, presided ■ over a fair attendance. Messrs. W. Stevens and M. Lawson were appointed delegates to the Taranaki centre. Several remits were discussed and the delegates were instruct ed to vote against the one suggesting that all clubs -instal automatic judging machines. 1 . The matter of obtaining a chopping championship for the Inglewood meetin«’ was left in the hands of the delegates. If Waitara holds its meeting on March 17 the delegates were instructed to try and obtain another day. It was decided to interview the school committee to try and obtain a school holiday for the day of the Inglewood sports, also to have some school sports on that day. Owing to repairs and the relaying of the Inglewood Tennis Club’s' courts the opening of the tennis season has been delayed, but on Saturday, despite the, wet morning and very threatening afternoon, there was a fair attendance of players. The courts were in ideal condition and an enjoyable afternoon was spent. Several players came from NewPlymouth. The official opening of the courts will be held next Thursday.
