KORU-KIRIHAU NEWS
The committee responsible for the success of the recent bazaar in aid of hall funds met on Tuesday afternoon last to decided upon its next move. The available balance proved, to be even larger than'had been expected, being in excess of £25. It Was decided, to request the hall committee to call a meeting of those interested at an early date, when plans for repairs and improvements may be discussed. The county council workmen with their tractor and. its accessories are at present engaged in repairing the surface of the Plymouth Road, a work rendered necessary by the recent rough weather. There is one gentleman in Koru who has cause to suspect a joke at his expense whenever stick insects are mentioned. While working in his garden recently, he became aware of a scratch- - ing sensation, and. made a sudden grab at a certain portion of his anatomy. Shortly afterwards lie was calling tor assistance; he had caught, a “big ’un.” Investigation, however, proved his “stick insect” was nothing but a dry macrocapa twig which had. gone a-journeying!
