HEAVY DAMAGE TO STOCKS. . NO ESTIMATE YET POSSIBLE. ; Heavy damage to stock by. smoke and heat was revealed in an examination of the shops affected by the fire which broke out in the cellar of Hallensteln Bros.’, premises, Devon Street, New. Plymouth, on Tuesday night. No estimate of the damage has yet been arrived at, but it is obvious from an inspection, especially in Hallenstein Bros.’ premises, that extensive harm has been done to the heavy stocks of summer goods. _ The damage also extends to Whites Ltd.', J. and J. Auld and . the Classic Art ’.Depot. Smoke also penetrated to C. O. Berg, tobacconist and hairdresser, Devon Tea Rooms and Dears’® Ltd. -
