TENNIS CLUB FORMED. . (From Our Own Correspondent.) A dance in aid of the S'porte candidate in the queen carnival, Miss V. H&B, was held in the Ratapiko hall on Monday night. Music was supplied by Mr. C. Hall and Mr. E. Karalus and Mr. A. Martin, was master of ceremonies. A competition was won by SAndy McRoberts. There was a large attendance- at tne Ratapiko hall on Tuesday night, when a meeting was convened to form a tennis club. With such a large number of young .people in the district the unanimous opinion was that tennis courts would be a great asset. They would also be a great boon for the school children as the proposed site adjoins the school grounds. , The following officials were elected: President, Mr. W- B. Martin; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs. J. Lepper and J. Wells; secretary, Mrs. J. Corbett; committee, Messrs. A. Gannaway, F. Hill, J. Lepper, J. Wells, R- Therkleson, Mesdames Wells and Martin; social committee, Mesdames R. Therkleson, G. Linklater, T. Burkett, Bill Wells, D. Therkleson, J. Corlett and H. Martin; trustees, Messrs. Wells and Martin. The Ratapiko school football team have had five boys included in the country team which has been chosen to play Inglewood—Peter Gannaway, Alan Martin, John Kuklinski, Bill Corlett and Jack Corbett. Miss Jean Walker, Mana Road, has returned, from a fortnight’s holiday with relatives in the Stratford district.
