MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING

NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB’S MATCHES. MEN’S BRANCH DEFEATS LADIES. A team from the men’s miniature branch of the New Plymouth' Rifle Club defeated a team from the ladies’ branch at the ladies’ weekly club night by 571 points to 558 points. The ladies’ team shot very consistently. Scores were:---Ladies; A. Bell 64, G. Griffith 64, C. Kretschmar 63, R. Death 62, I. Papps 02, R. Reeve 62, S. Papps 61, P. Death 60, M. Ramson 60. Total 558. Men: G. Tailor 69, F. Hogg 67, S. Higgs 66, J. Willis junr. 65, J. Ramson 63, I. Reichenbach 62, S. Pruden 61, J. Willis senr. 60, J. Walsh 58. Total 571. Scores in the ladies’ competitions, the net score counting towards the championship and the gross towards the handicap aggregates, were:— Senior: G. Griffith 64— i —68; A. Bell 64—3—67; R. Death 62—4—66; J. Beal 61—5—66; C. Kretschmar 63 —2—65; P. Death 60—5—65; M. Ramson 60 —5—65; I. Papps 62 —2 —64. Junior: G. Gillespie 56 —8—64; R. Reeve 62 —1—63; J. McKenzie 49—12— 61; A. Florence 40—18—58. The senior button was won by Miss J. Beal, who with Miss G. Griffith scored 64, Miss Griffith defaulting in the shoot off. A shoot-off to decide a tie in the last concluded handicap competition between Misses I. Papp& and C. Kretschmar was won by Miss Kretschmar by 68 to 60. It is proposed to hold a triangular match between the Waitara Club and the New Plymouth men's and ladies’ branches. The match will take place either next week or the following week.
