NEW PLYMOUTH TENT MISSION,

The interesting and striking subject of the Irish Baptist evangelist in the great marquee erected opposite the rai’.way station at New Plymouth to-mor-row evening will be “God’s Audit.” Last Sunday extra seating accommodation had to be provided in spite of the very wet night. The mission committee is anticipating requirements in this regard, so far as to-morrow night’s crowds are concerned; provided that people come early they will be tolerably certain of securing comfortable seats. The com; mittee reports that the general results of the mission have far exceeded the most sanguine hopej and have proved conclusively that the old-time message of the Gospel, directly addressed to the heart and conscience, has by no means lost its appeal and power, Mr. Carlisle possesses in an unusual degree those qualities which appeal to the crowd — a remarkable sense of humour, combined with deep conviction and evident earnestness. He is from first to last a preacher with a message and a “man’s man.”
