MEN’S FINAL AT INGLEWOOD. KAPONGA BEATS HOME TEAM. The divisional final ' of 1 the men’s hockey competition was played at Inglewood under bad weather conditions. Kapohga defeated Inglewood by four goals to nil. A cold -wind and frequent showers made things uncomfortable for players and'spectators. . From the- start both teams played hard. After .a good piece of up and down play Kaponga rushed play to the Inglewood goal, where from a good pass from R. McCarthy, V. Betts scored. Inglewood pressed hal'd for several minutes, but failed to score from a free hit. Kaponga attacked, G. Pascoe scoriiig from a good’ passing bout. Inglewood returned again after a good run by Preo, but was unfortunate not to score. Inglewood was doing all the attacking now and could do anything but gbal. After half-time Kaponga, spent several busy minutes in Inglewood’s circle. Inglewood attacked for a while, but Kaponga with R. McCarthy leading, strongly chased Inglewood back. From a neat pass from McCarthy, 8. Betts goaled. Kapbnga continued to attack, S. Betts just failing again, the ball going ovCr the net. Good hard work, by both teams followed, until McCarthy, who was playing an outstanding game, broke away in a brilliant solo run from half-way and scored a great goal. Inglewood again and again at the' goal but was unlucky. Kapqiiga returned again, first Timms, then H. Evans clearing well. J. Attrill (Ka-. ponga) was severely cut over the eye and had to leave the field. Kaponga came again, McCarthy' just failing to goal from a forward rush, Barry, Inglewood’s goalie, who was playing a good game, clearing in great style. The game finished with- Kaponga attacking strongly. The Rev. J. Ryburn refereed.
