ENTERTAINMENTS

EVERYBODY’S, NEW PLYMOUTH. BIG LAUGHTER BILL. Slim Summerville, the lean, long comedian, always seems io arouse a rustle of pleasing anticipation in his audiences as soon as he shows his face on the screen. This was the case when Slim appeared co-starred with Zasu Pitts in “The Unexpected Father” at Everybody’s, New Plymouth, on Saturday.'The picture is a clever comedy of the misunderstandings and embarrassing situations between a millionnaire bachelor, a baby and a nurse. Tiny Cora Sue Collins, the newest of Hollywood’s child stars, who plays the baby of tho film, makes a distinct appeal to the audience. “The Unexpected Father” is a bright comedy that can be emphatically recommended. Tho supporting programme includes a very amusing comedy, “Hollywood Half-backs,” Cincsound News, “Mickey the Mouse” in “The Duck Hunt,” “The Red Shadow” (a detective drama) and Universal News reels. Tho programme will be screened again today and to-morrow at both afternoon and evening sessions.

THE REGENT THEATRE.

“DANCE TEAM” A POPULAR FILM.

The popularity of those lovable “Bad Girl” stars, James Dunn and Sally Eilers, was again proven on Saturday last when a large first audience applauded long and heartily their latest picture, “Dance Team,” at the Regent Theatre, New Plymouth. .And it was applause well deserved for it has been many a day since a more realistic and human performance has been witnessed by local fans. In the roles of two penniless but infinitely ambitious dancers who yearn for fame and fortune and who after many hardships and struggles achieve the much coveted success only to see it again slip through their fingers, their performances are simply superlative. An enjoyable supporting bill included Fox News, Oswald cartoon, Fox News and “Radio Kisses” (comedy).. Screenings will be repeated to-night and to-morrow night. Ruth Chatterton, favourite of men and women alike, comes to .The Regent next Wednesday in • “Once a Lady.”
