RELIEF WORKERS’ WAGES.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—Under the heading “Increasing Men’s Wages,” published in this morning’s issue, it is stated that B class men are receiving an average wage of £1 Ils 3d a week, and the C class men £2 3s 9d a week. This statement is contrary to the facts, as the B class men have been averaging, since January, not more than £1 3s 9d per week, while the C class men, if they had received full quota, namely four days per week for three weeks in every four weeks, could only average a maximum weekly wage of £1 17s 6d on relief work. For the enlightenment of the general public I consider the statement as published should be rectified.—l am, etc., ONE OF THE NOBLE ARMY. Hawera, July 28, 1932.
