TARIKI DISTRICT NEWS
QUEEN CARNIVAL PROGRESS.

Following are the results of the first official count in the Tariki queen carnival:—
Siporte candidate (Miss V. Hall), 2378 votes.
Mountain candidate (Miss M. Dombroski), 2120 votes. Town candidate (-Miss D. Butler), 1640 votes. 7 .’?
The votes' being 3d' ea'feh,. £76 4s 6d lias been collected, Which'.is very gratifying for so short a time. " With the progress known from time to time the interest should be kept up until the ■closing date, August 27. The- Tariki school football team visited Waitui to play Waitui-Everett Road and -were victorious by 20 to 3. The school 'basketball A team beat Wai-tui-Everett Road by 21 to 17. Both teams were conveyed, to Waitui by Mrs. L. Loveridge and Messrs. H. and G. Knowles. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea after the match. Miss G. Cowley is on holiday from Napier, visiting her parents, Ross Road. Mr. C. F. Young is spending a few days at Auckland. Mr. M. J. Cassidy motored to Auckland at the week-end.
