‘BUFFALO BILL” MATINEE 2 P.M

Adapted from the befit selling novel “The Plutocrat,” by Booth Tarkington, the picture shows Will on a Mediterranean cruise to Algiers and Damascus in Northern Africa* As a wealthy razor blade manufacturer, he skilfully combines pleasure with business, and has an unusual series of adventures which climax in a>verting a tribal war. Dorothy Peterson, direct from the Broadway Stage, has the role of Roger®’ wife in this production, and nags him almost continually all the way from New York to the heart of the Sahara desert. Joel McCrea, popular young juvenile, and Peggv Ro-SSj recent discovery as a promising young leading lady, carry the romantic interest, while Jetta Goudal has a vampire role that addJS considerably to the drama of the production. The accompanying programme will include Fox News, “Fires of Vulcan” (travelogue), and Cinesound News. “The Fatal Plunge,” chapter 5 of “Battling with Buffalo Bill,” will be screened at the matinee only.

The romantic team of Joan Crawford and Clark Gable in a dramatic story of a factory girl who becomes the toast of Park Avonuo makes an engrossing talkie of which commences at Evea-ybody’s to-day at 2 and 7.45 pan. The picture was adapted from the Edgar Selwyu stage hit, "The Mirage.” Miss Crawford’s role as the girl udw turns down the man she loves in order to leave him free to become the Governor of his State, gives her every opportunity for a display of her dramatic prowess. Her transformations from a plain factory worker to a member of the leisure class entails sixteen costume changes. The story also entails a nuimber of spectacular scenic backgrounds. Gable is seen as the candidate for Governor. Wallace Ford, popular New York stage leading man, makes his screen debut in this picture as Gable’s rival for the affections of the heroine. An extraordinary supportino* programme will include Alickey the Mouse °in “Mickey’s Orphans,” Laurel and Hardy (the screen’s funniest comics) in “Come Clean,” “A Night in a Cabaret” (Colourtone Revue) and Metrotone News.
