RECORD ROUNDS PLAYED.

By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, July 14.

An unprecedented orgy of low scoring in the second round of the first-class golf event at Porthcawl (Wales) roused a big crowd to unusual enthusiasm. Arthur Chevalier, aged 19, equalled the record of 68 which R. Whitcomb© established in the first round. Arthur Havers immediately followed', also equalling - that score. Then Archie Compson performed the unparalleled feat of doing nine successive holes of a 6700 yards course in 28. Ho had a whole nest of birdie threes. Thereafter his display was indifferent but he broke the record w’itli a 66 which Henry Cotton equalled later, enabling him to lead in the aggregate with 135, Havers being next with 137, Chevalier 141, Whitcombe 144 and Compston 145.
