Chilean army officers attempted io seize Colonel Marmaduke Grove, a leading member of the New Socialist * Go> - eminent, to-night in an outburst of fio-htin'r around Government. Palace, lire raid was inspired by a desire to maintain a national Socialism divested of Communists. The officers said Colonel Grove eluded them while the. rebellious troops marched toward the city to assault the palace.i. < The rattle of the machine-guns and the firing were - ; head in the. distance while aeroplanes; of the attacking forces flew overhead. There was a lull in the disorders near midnight.
