MEETING OF ASSOCIATION.

CENSURE OF AUROA PLAYER.

Mr. I. J. Bridger presided over a meeting of the management committee of the Taranaki Hockey Association last night. The transfers of K. Ewans from Eltham to Mangatoki, K. Foy from Oriental seniors to Hawera seniors and J. McDonald from Hawera seniors to Alhambra juniors were approved, while L. Cole, Waitara, and S. G. Morgan, Mangatoki, were re-instated from senior to junior. The secretary was authorised to purchase 12 first-aid outfits for distribution to clubs.

A report was received from Mr. A. Jackson, referee of a Manaia v., Auroa match, recommending that a member of the Auroa club who had been ordered off for threatening behaviour should be censured. A later letter from the. same source complained that the. association had taken no action and that the offender had again to be spoken to the next week. The chairman reported that the player had been officially communicated ’ with, since when his conduct had been satisfactory to the association. The association’s censure, together with a letter from the chairman, were sent on receipt of the referee’s first letter but could not have been receiv’d by th player before the match following that concerned in the first complaint. The action in censuring the player was confirmed. Application is to be made for the .allocation to Taranaki of one of the elimination games in the Nordon Cup competition. Congratulations were extended to the management committee of the June 3 tournament upon the excellent organisation of the very successful day. Divisional selectors were asked to make an early choice of the divisional representative teams. The Wednesday division is to be allowed to postpone its fixtures on June 29, the occasion of the Wellington-Taranaki Rugby match. Referees were instructed to draw the attention of team captains to cases where teams were not properly equipped with jerseys of club colours.
