'"1 ( L : - (British Official Wireless.) , Rec. 5.5 p.m. ' June 9/ The King has knighted Alfred Gilbert, the-78-year-old sculptor and designer of tlie famous Eros statue. Only last week Mr. Gilbert accepted an invitation to rejoin the Royal Ara,? flemy, from which he resigped 23 yearg ago as the result of the controversy aver the statue. He lived in Belgium for -IT years and returned to'London at the invitation of the King to complete the memorial to the Duke of Clarence ftt Windsor. He then began we k qn the Queen Alexandra memorial which was unveiled by the King at Marlborough House yesterday. /
