INCREASED CONSUMPTION.

REVENUE SHOW'S IMPROVEMENT.

The monthly meeting of the Opunake Power Board was held yesterday, when there were present Messrs. G, Goodwin (chairman), W. 6, Green, J, S. Tosland, A. J. Brennan, E, A, Collins and C. O. Edmonds.

Tlie engineer, Mr. p. Fraser, reported that during May the units generated at the power station totalled 147,300, an increase of 23,100 over thg output of May, 1931, 380 k.w. being the/maximum demand registered The plant and equipment had operated efficiently. tThe Diesel engine ran 15 hours, eompafefl with 164 hours for the same month last year. Power was taken from New Plymouth on 5 days as against 3Q in May of last year, that being due to the increased flow in the Waiau. Should the lake maintain the same level during the com-: ing month he thought it would be advisable to have the Diesel engine thoroughly overhauled so as to eliminate any stoppages during the summer months. The engineer suggested that No, 8 galvanised wire at; a cost of £2O should be used to replace No.- 16 copper wire on a section of the Pa tiki Road where there had been numerous breaks. The copper reclaimed would be worth £lO5 and w'ould be suitable for service lines. Permits, had been issued as follows: Lighting 30, heating 6, stoves 1, milking motors 1, field pump 1, industrial motor 1. The following installations had been connected: Lighting 24 (same month last year 25), heating 8 (16), stoves 1 (0), industrial motors 1 (O’), alterations and additions 5 (12).

The secretary (Air. J. ,N. Stephenson) reported that revenue for April was as follows, the figures for the corresponding month last year, being shown in parentheses: Lighting, £471 15s. sd. (£452 19s. 7ff.); stoves, £B7 2s. 2d. (£94 Os. Gd.); industrial power, £ll2 4s. lid. ( £l2l 19s. 4d.); milking power, £443 6s. 6d. ( £421 9s. lid.); water heaters, £72 IGs. sd. (£69 Bs. 9d.); penalties, £l6 9s. 2d. (£23 ss. 6d.); street lights, £l2. 13s. 4d. (£l2 13s. 4d.); total, £1216 17s. lid. (£1195 16s. Correspondence was received from the Public Trustee in connection with the loan redemption, and it • was resolved that the chairman and secretary visit Wellington at an early date in connection with the matter. . . Consideration of the estimates was deferred pending the matter of the loan redemption being completed. The committee set up to report on transport submitted a satisfactory report on the condition of the trucks and cars.
