PREPARATIONS IN ENGLAND.

British Wireless. ' Rugby, June 8. Good progress is being made in the preparatory work for the Ottawa conference through the organisation among Ministers and in the department concerned which was set tip in the autumn and which Mr. J. H. Thomas (Dominions’ Secretary) stated in the House of Commons had been continuously at work.

The Ministers and departments concerned, Mr. Thomas added, had been in close touch with representative organisations and with representatives .of numerous trades. Since the beginning of May they had had the advantage of the advice and assistance of the industrial advisers who would accompany the United Kingdom delegation to Ottawa and who were being constantly consulted on matters affecting trade interests generally. Preliminary discussions had been taking place with Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Newfoundland, Southern Rhodesia and India.
