SUBSCRIPTIONS IN BRITAIN.
INFORMATION GIVEN HOUSE.
British Official Wireless. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, June 8. In reply to a question m the House of Commons Sir Herbert Samuel said it was estimated that £2,:85,000, including £57'5,000 as sellers’, commission, ■had been subscribed in Britain for the Derby sweepstake, and £2,006,000 was received in prizes. In respect to_ six Irish sweeps approximately £13,285,000 had been subscribed from Britain, including sellers’ commission estimated at £2/3'571)00. The sum of £7,0'50,000 had been won in prizes.
