TRADE WITHIN THE EMPIRE
MR. W. S. GLENN MAKES APPEAL.
REPRESENTATION AT OTTAWA. . An urgent plea for Empire trade was made at the Manaia jubilee dinner yesterday by Mr. W. S. Glenn, ex-M.P., pioneer All Black and former resident of Manaia. Mr. Glenn also deprecated any niggardliness in sending New Zealand’s representatives to Ottawa. To survive the depression they would have to stick together, said Mr. Glenn. The various countries of the Empire would have to trade together. He urged his hearers to buy only goods made, within tlie Empire. It did not matter whether they were made in England oi Canada or anywhere so long as it was a British country. They should not trade with foreign countries who did not buy from New Zealand. England, they should remember, was New Zealand’s main market. New Zealanders should mot quibble at the expense of sending a delegation to Ottawa. It did not matter whether it cost £lOOO or £lOO,OOO. Every section of the country should be fully represented and all the information that could be gathered was wanted.
