RAIN DEVELOPING
FINE WEATHER AT FIRST.

Wellington, Last Night. The weather will be fine practically generally at first but will become unsettled in western and northern districts by to-morrow, with rain developing and extending later to other parts. Temperatures will become temporarily milder. An intense anti-cyclone covers southeastern Australia, and the pressure is high also over New Zealand, but a shallow depression is developing in the Tasman Sea. Winds will be variable at first but shortly tending northerly and freshening somewhat. Seas will still have a considerable southerly swell on parts of both coasts, but otherwise will be smooth to moderate. SHIPPING MOVEMENTS. Sydney, June 9: Monowai, 5 pan., for Wellington. Lyttelton, June 9: Arrived: Kiwitea, 6.30 a.m., from Timaru; Rangatira, 6.45 a.m., from Wellington; Poolta, 7.50 a.m., from Timaru; Opawa, 8 a.m., from Wellington. Sailed: Poolta, 3.20 p.m., for Wellington; Kiwitea, 8.30 p.m., for Westport; Rangatira, 8.25 p.m., for Wellington. Auckland, June 9: Sailed: Port Waikato, 5.10 p.m., for Wellington, via Tauranga.
