The results are: — First Round. Midhirst beat Tiroa after a very even contest, winning by about an inch. Parihaka beat Otakeho, securing a full pull after a minute and a half. . Matapu beat Manutahi. Manutahi got a lead of two inches, Matapu getting a pull after the first minute. . They held a lead of an inch for a minute; then the pull, wavered alternately, . Matapu winning by an inch . Rawhitiroa beat Waimate Unemploy cd. Rawhitiroa gained, the pull but Watmate soon secured a lead of three inches. Rawhitiroa gained the pull arid established a lead of two inches, winning by that margin. Manaia Road beat Lowgarth. Taungatara took the lead of two inches and held it throughout, finishing with three inches to spare. Second Round. Tiroa beat Otakeho. Tiroa gained the pull and took, a lead of. three inches. Otakeho reduced the lead to half an incn but were unable to gain the rope. . Parihaka beat Midhirst. Midhirst took the rope first, Parihaka soon pulling them over and taking six inches. Panhaka went back an inch before, the finish. Waimato Unemployed beat Manutahi. Manutahi took the lead, Waimate soon getting it back and taking a lead of three inches. This margin was maintained till the end. Rawhitiroa beat Matapu. Rawhitiroa got first pull. Then the pull hung evenly, going in favour of Matapu momentarily. The lamps lit alternately with only an inch margin either way. Matapu came to light with a good pull but Rawhitiroa made a fierce tug and took two inches of a margin to finish. : Lowgarth beat Waiteika. Lowgarth made a good jerk and snapped a lead of four inches. This they increased to seven inches and took a full pull in 45 seconds. Semi-Finals. . .t Manaia Road beat Waimate Football Club. Gaining the pull Manaia had a lead to four inches and. a full pull within 80 seconds. ~ . 4 ’ Manaia Fire Brigade beat. Midhirst, Midhirst gained an inch at the start but Eire Brigade had occasional snaps and settled into a steady pull with three inches margin. This was increased to six inches at the finish. .Taungatara beat Parihaka. Taungatara gained the pull and held a slight advantage for a time. A keen pull resulted and Taungatara won by an incli. Waimate Unemployed beat Tiroa. Tiroa established a half-inch lead. Wai; mate made strenuous attempts to get the rope and gained the pull with half a minute to go, finishing with one inch margin. , Lowgarth had an easy win over Waimate Football Club, gaining a full pull in 20 seconds. Manaia Fire Brigade beat Matapu. Fire Brigade took a lead of three inches which was held to the finish. Manaia Road beat Rawhitiroa. Manaia Road put themselves two inches ahead. Rawhitiroa made several strong pulls but Manaia retrieved and finished with two inches to spare. Parihaka beat Waimate Unemployed. Parihaka gained a lead of six inches and Unemployed were unable to get’ the rope although several splendid tugs were made, and Parihaka finished with three inches to spare. Manaia Fire Brigade beat Lowgarth. Lowgarth gained a couple of inches from the first pull. Fire Brigade eventually turned the tables and won by two inches. Manaia Road beat Taungatara. Taungatara gained the pull with a slight lead. This was increased at times to two inches, Manaia Road eventually securing the ascendancy and .finishing ahead by half an inch after a very strenuous contest.

Parihaka beat Rawhitiroa. Parihaka made a good pull and took seven inches of rope within a minute. This lead was maintained and increased to eight inches at the finish.

Manaia Fire Brigade beat .Taungatara. Taungatara gained a lead of an inch. After a severe struggle Fire Brigade reversed the position and won by one and a-half inches.

Parihaka beat Manaia Fire Brigade. Parihaka gained the rope,, secured a couple of inches lead and won by that margin after holding throughout. Final.

Manaia Road beat Parihaka. Parihaka opened by taking the strain, to lose it temporarily and then regain the advantage. They gained an inch but lost it once or twice, Manaia Road coming in steadily about half way through to get a firm hold with one and a-half inches advantage. When the bell rang they had an advantage of 2J inches.
