In sunny weather, with just the necessary tang in the air to bring the colour to the cheek, the North Taranaki Hunt Club' had another fine afternoon s sport yesterday. The meet was at the homestead Of Mr. F. Sarten, Inland North Road, likorangi, and there was a muster ot over 30 members. Splendid hunting country and wide fields with well sparred fences gave exhilarating sport. The horses were m good fettle, the hounds worked well and hares wete there a plenty. Though there were no kills there were three great runs that tested the mettle of the horses and their riders. „ .. , . Almost on the throw off the _ hounds found and soon the pack was in full cry picking up a hare in Mr. F. Sarten s. The Stiarry led the chase through Mr. Sarten s, across Inland North Road and into Mr. Sarten’s property again; thence across to Mrs. M. E. Honeyfield’s property, where the hounds were called off. . Another hare was soon picked up in a hollow about 100 yards from the homestead. ■lt led the chase towards Ohanga Road and into Mr. J. Grahams, whence it circled round into Mr. J. B. Mabin s back again into Mr. 1. An-adjournment was made to the homestead, where afternoon tea was served. De-puty-Master W. T. Joll on behalf of the Hunt thanked Mr. and Mrs. F. Sarten and Mr. and Mrs. L. Sarten for their hospitality. They had, he said, never hunted over more beautiful country with its wide fields, well sparred fences and..plenty of hares. He thanked Mr. Sarten for his advice to.members to stick strictly to the spars and leave the fences alone, an admonition that mem bers had remembered. If they did. that all the time there'was no doubt they would always be welcomed by farmers. Cheers were accorded Mr. and Mrs. Sarten. .
