MR. FORBES’ DECISION.

(To the Editor.) . Sir, —I should like to be among the first to congratulate the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes on the courage he has shown in withdrawing from the delegation to Ottawa, as he must recognise the desperate plight of this country. If we start with the co-operation of everyone, even my humble self who has had 45 years studying the political and economic situations of most parts of the world since W. E. Gladstone’s time, I am sure we can put this country on a more solid basis than ever before. These are not mere platitudes, but we cannot do very much without the help of the Press as we know the great power they have with the man in the street, and as Mr. Forbes is to be here it will give us more confidence.—■ I am, etc.,

QUERIST.
