CLIMAX NOT YET REACHED SOLDIERS APPEAL FOR BONUS COMMUNIST PLOT FOILED PROSPECTS OF FIREWORKS By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Washington, June 7. Reinforcements inarched, obtained rides or motored toward Washington to-day to lend their presence to the appeal for the £40,000,000 bonus for war veterans. At Washington it was parade day with a touch of Red, offering prospects of fireworks. The police announced that a Communist plot to combat the police with violence had been discovered. To-day’is parade of 4000 bonus-marchers from all parts of the country was by no means intended as a climax to the veterans’ efforts to stir Congress to action on their behalf. Thousands of others were only barely started from distant homes to join the “army.” It is estimated that 18,000 will be in. Washington on June 13 tvhen, according to a petition circulated by the leaders of the movement, a vote by Congress is promised. ALLOWANCES NOT CURTAILED. ECONOMY BILL CLAUSE DELETED. Rec. 10 p.m. Washington, June 7. The United States Senate struck from the Economy Bill to-day provisions intended to save £9,600,000 by curtailing allowances to war veterans.
