BANK RATE REDUCED

Rec. 7.45 p.m. Sydney, June 8. The Commonwealth Bank announces that fixed deposits rates are being altered from to-day as follows: Twentyfour months, 3J per cent, per annum, which .is a reduction of 4 per cent.; twelve months, 31 per cent., a reduction of J per cent.; six months, 3 per cent., unchanged; three months, 2 J per cent., unchanged. From July 1 the rate for advances is to be fixed at a flat rate of 5 per cent. The Commonwealth Bank thus conies into line with the trading banks, which reduced fixed deposit rates last month.
