Sir Stanley Argyle, Premier of Victoria, speaking at a North Sydney election meeting, said he had come to. speak in Sydney because he was convinced that the situation was one in which the welfare of his own State was vitally concerned. If New South Wales fell the whole of Australia would fall. Sir Stanley added that the finances of, the. other States were affected by what had occurred in New South Wales, and quoted the Mortgages Taxation Bui as an example of the legislation which would affect the whole of Australia.
