Women in a field .on the outskirts of Tiptree, Essex, unearthed part of the foundations of a castle which had been occupied by Queen Boadicea, A.D. 51. ' The discovery was made within two miles of Gore Pit Corner, where Boadicea gained a famous victory over the Romans. The discoveries include pottery, huge cut stones, and enormous ■bricks. History records that a castle stood two miles from the main road, and'eight miles from Colchester, which is the exact spot of the present find. It is understood that experts will make investigations.
Something like 2000 officers and 40,000 men of the British mercantile marine are unemployed.
