RACING CAR AGAIN READY

WIZARD SMITH’S INTENTIONS; SUCCESS OF; NEW WINDSCREEN. '' ' EARLY SPEED ATTEMPT LIKELY. By Telegraph.—press. Association. Auckland, Last Night. Final tests of the revolving windscreen which has been fitted to Norman Smith’s racing car were carried out today, when the device proved highly satisfactory. In view of the success of the tests it has been arranged to ship the car to Awanui by the auxiliary vessel Motu, which will sail at noon tomorrow. Mr. Smith’s party, including his mechanics, will leave by motor as soon as the Enterprise is safely on board, and will arrive at Awaniii late in the evening. The racer will ha unloaded on Sunday ■ morning and will b® taken to the garage at Hukater® immediately. ’ An inspection of the beach will be made on Monday at the latest by Mr. Smith, who will then advise-Mr. H. ' J. Butcher and other members of the Auckland Automobile Racing Club, and Mr. Kelvin Cuff- and his staff ot electricians, as to when he hopes to race. Mr. Smith is prepared to run on a fairly wet beach provided if is smooth, and there should be no undue delay on this occasion. He will, however, have to wait until the low tide occurs somewhere near mid-day to allow th® sand to become as dry as possible, and will therefore most probably attack th® world’s 10 kilometres and. five mile? records about next Thursday or Friday, and the one mile land speed -record, on the following day.
