REDUCTION OF PENSIONS
GOVERNMENT’S MAJORITY OF TWO TWO SECTIONS OF BILL COMPLETED DISPUTE OVER CRITICAL DIVISION of old age pensions wag retained in the National Expenditure Adjustment Bill, now in its committee stage in the House : of-Representatives) by a majority of two-votes on a division at an early-Sibur yesterday morning. In other divisions, ineluding that on tlie reduction of soldiers’ pensions, the Government’s majority was as low as four. ’ The committee’s sitting, which began the previous afternoon, ended list night with the adoption of the second part of the Bill and the House adjourned until Wednesday, when the interest and rent reduction proposals will be discussed.
