WAITARA SPORTS MEETING
Owing to numerous requests, the Waitara Cycling and Athletic Club is staging a supplementary sports meeting on April 30 on the Camp Reserve, Waitara. So numerous are the nominations for the chopping events that a fresh order ■for puketea blocks has been sent to Mokau. Choppers and sawyers have entered from all parts of Taranaki and farther afield, and with the inauguration of an automatic judging machine this class of sport should be more successful than, hitherto.
Although th© nominations for the cycling and running events do not close until to-night many are already in hand. The New Zealand champion cyclist, A. C. Ritchie, Christchurch, has arrived at Waitara and is training for the meeting. Given a fine day the club should have a most successful day. In addition to the programme already published, the committee has decided to have a mile handicap cycle sweepstakes event for B grade cyclists.
