PLAY AT WAIWAKAIHO LINKS STANDISH CUP CONTINUED. L. WARD’S STRONG POSITION, Though the conditions at Waiwakaiha on Saturday were perfect the scoring in. the second round of the Standish Cup was not good. With the exception ox I*. Ward all the first round leaders failed, badlv, and Ward is now left with a commanding lead of eight strokes with ona more round to play. The medal handicap played in conjunction resulted in wins for C. H. Stromboin and H. W. FITZROY' COURSE OPENED. LINKS PROVE POPULAR, Play commenced on the new links at Fitzroy on Saturday and was continued through the week-end. A number of players tested the lay-out and themselves as well satisfied. Already well over 30 have taken season tickets and the finks give every indication of proving very popular.
