KAPONGA METHODIST CHURCH
QUARTERLY CIRCUIT MEETING. The quarterly circuit meeting of the Kaponga Methodist Church was h~ld on Wednesday a-t the residence of Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Davies. The Rev. J. R. Nelson presided. A report showed the number of members to be 45. The circuit steward (Mr. Davies) presented a financial statement which showed a credit for the quarter. It was stated that the harvest festival effort on the whole had been successful, realising approximately £2 more than in last year. The “mile of pennies” effort during the quarter had resulted in the collection of over £2O.
The meeting discussed various suggestions regarding a campaign to help the circuit finances.
The young people's work was reported upon, a feature being the weekly meetings of the Wesley Guild. Mr. "Nelson offered to subject his stipend to the prevailing 10 per cent, reduction. The meeting reluctantly accepted the offer as a temporary expedient only. The minister was warmly thanked.
Arrangements were made for the observation of the foreign mission appeal during the current quarter. It was decided to ask the Rev. F. Haymail, a missionary now on furlough from the Solomon Islands, to speak here on a week-night in May. Some discussion took place on the securing of a circuit foreign mission secretary and it was hoped that that would be arranged.
