Spain has proclaimed to-day a public holiday and is celebrating its first anniversary as a republic amid strikes and threats of strikes. .The Times’ correspondent at Madrid says strikers set fire to pottery works and attempted to blow up a convent. Citizens at Seville day and night have been guarding the churches.
