WORLD DEPRESSION ENDED

NEW ERA IN UNITED. STATES

ANGLO-U.S.A. CO-OPERATION

FRIENDSHIP SACRED, VITAL NOTED. AMERICANS’ VIEWS By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 5.5 p.m. London, April 14. In the presence of the Prince of Wales, the Earl of Derby and other notables, Mr. Andrew W. Mellon (new United States Ambassador), speaking at a Pilgrims’ dinner, reviewed the world situation. Britain and America together, Mr. Mellon added, represented a great centripetal force in a world which was tending to fly apart. They must leave nothing undone to strengthen it, not only by guarding friendship as sacred and vital but also by co-operating with all other nations to achieve again the world’s peace and economic well-being. Mr. Frank B. Kellogg (co-originator of the Kellogg Pact), who arrived today at Plymouth with Mr. H. L. Stimson (United States Secretary of State); expressed the belief that the world depression had ended. A new era of prosperity was gradually dawning in the United States, but business must be placed on an economic basis and expenses reduced in order to prevent high taxation.
