Dr. Hooper, of the medical foundation of the University of California, reported to-day that Phar Lap died of colic, or acute indigestion. The condition, the report said, probably resulted from the fermentation of food in his stomach causing bloating or distension of the muscles of the heart, stopping that organ. The chemical analysis revealed two nu-.igrams of a deadly poison in Phar Lap’s stomach, about the normal quantity of this poison to be found in the amount of green food Phar Lap had eaten. This amount should have been beneficial, the pathologists said.
