UNEMPLOYMENT LEVY UNPAID

FIVE QUARTERS IN ARREARS. CASES AT OPUNAKE COURT. R W. Lawson, who did not appear, was’ charged at the Opunake Court yesterday with having failed to pay his unemployment levy for the periods ending December, 1930, March, 1931, June, 1931, August, 1931, and November, 1931. Mr C P. Smith, inspector of factories, New Plymouth, who prosecuted, explained that Lawson had been present at the court but had asked witness to explain that he had to leave to attend to his business as a service-car driver. As the result of complaints that defendant had not paid hi levies he was interviewed on February 29, wheni hq paid all up to date. He explained that Ms failure to pay previously was owing ti the fact that he had been financially embarrassed, and witness understood that that was correct.
