BUTTER MARKET WEAKER

PRICES EASE BY TWO SHILLINGS.

CHEESE QUIET BUT STEADY.

Dairy produce markets have slowed since last week. Prices for butter have eased by about two shillings and for cheese by about one shilling, according to cable messages received in New Plymouth yesterday. The butter market is described as weak and the cheese market as steady, though quiet. Mr. E. Griffiths has received the following cable from his London principals, A, J. Mills and Co.: The butter market is slow. New Zealand finest, 107 s. to 108 s. (110 s. last week); New Zealand firsts, lOfe. to 107 s. (109 s. New Zealand unsalted, 114 s. to 116 s. (Il4s. to 116 s.); Danish, 116 s. (116 s. Australian, 104 s. to 106 s. (107 s. to 108 s.). The cheese market is quiet. New Zealand white, 625. (635.); coloured, 635. (645.). The butter market is weak, states advice received by another firm. Quotations are from 107 s. to 108 s. Cheese is steady at 625. to 635. The butter market is weak at a reduction of 2s. per cwt. compared with last week, states a cable received by Newton Kino-, Ltd., from R. and W. Davidson, Ltd? Salted, 106 s. to 108 s. (108 s. to 110 s. last week). The cheese market is quiet at a reduction of 2s. per cwt. compared with last week. Coloured, G2s. to 635. (645.); white, Ols. to 625. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., has received the following advice from London dated April 13 (last week’s quotations in parentheses) : Butter, New Zealand choicest salted, 108 s. (109 s. to 110 s.). Very slow. Cheese, white, 625. (635.), coloured, 60s. (645.). Market steady.
