DISORDERLY SCENES
SYDNEY PARLIAMENT HOUSE.
ATTACK ON LEGISLATOR. Disorderly scenes occurred in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly on a recent • afternoon. Mr. McDicken, M.L.A., threatened to fight a man who, he said, had insulted him, and Mr. Donald Grant, M.L.C., was attacked by another man when he attempted, to act as peacemaker. A number of unemployed thronged the vestibule and sent frequent notes to members demanding that they should be an interview with the Premie?. Eventually Mr. McDicken walked from the Chamber into the vestibule. Immediately he was approached by a man who muttered something which so aroused Mr. McDicken that he issued a challenge to fight. It was with difficulty that he was. prevented from carrying his intentions into effect. The excitement had begun to die down when Mr. Donald Grant attempted to make peace. His efforts were not appreciated, particularly by a young man who made a sudden rush at him. Mr. Grant was bundled unceremoniously into a waiting room, where he was separated from his aggressor by a policeman. The disturber was ejected, and the sergeant-at-arms ended the chance of further trouble by ordering the lobbies and vestibule to be cleared.
