CAUGHT IN TUNNEL BY TRAM
HURT IN JUMP FROM LADDER.
WELLINGTON LINESMAN’S ORDEAL. ' 3y Telegraph.—-Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Caught on a ladder while replacing a light globe in the middle of Mount Victoria Tunnel on Saturday afternoon, a tramway linesman made- a last-minute jump to avoid ah approaching tram which was travelling through the tunnel at ■ the usual speed. The linesman was Alexander Scott and his last desperate move in' jumping from the top of the ladder to the side of the track probably saved his life. As it was he suffered a severe compound fracture of the left leg. 1
