H; Weston, Auckland, is spending the Easter vacation in New Plymouth. ! Mr. C. H. Wyatt, formerly of New Plymouth, was re-elected chairman of the Birkenhead Fire Board at the first annual meeting. A. Hempton, chief auditor of the Bank of New Zealand, Wellington, is a visitor to New Plymouth for the High School jubilee celebrations. A Gazette notice announces. the reappointment of Mr. J. R. Cruickshank as the Government member on the New Plymouth Harbour Board. Manu Mataakura (Mrfe. Sharland), Minerapa Road, Okato, died on Saturday at the age of 52 years. She was a well-known Native, the mother of 19 children, many of whom are living in the Okato district. The Taranaki branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants at its annual meeting at New Plymoiith on Wednesday elected Mr. S. E. Nielson (New Plymouth) president for the ensuing year, replacing Mr. F. E. Clarke (Hawera), whose term of office has expired.

Mr. and Mrs. C. Denny-Brown leave from Auckland on Friday next by the Ulimaroa. en route for England. During Mr. Denny-Brown’s six months’ absence from New Zealand Mr. E. J. Reid will be in charge of the New Plymouth branch of the A.M.P. Society. The- death occurred at Okato yesterday morning of Mrs. Eliza Roebuck, wife of Mr. R. F. Roebuck, Okato. Mr. and Mrs. Roebuck resided in the district for over 50 years. Mrs. Roebuck was an active worker for the Methodist Church, She leaves a family of six, Mesdames Walter Clark, Arthur Andrews and M. R. Hill, Messrs. F. W., A. J? and S. I. Roebuck ~ . ■
