( RI—.F..WI.U u 1 I ■ TROTTING AT HAWERA. OLD BOYS’ REUNION. Varied Easter attractions will be presented for selection by holiday-/ makers in Taranaki this week-end. For ols. boys of the New Plymouth High School the most important gatherings will be those connected with the jubilee celebrations. A large number of old boys living elsewhere arrived at New Plymouth yesterday and others ■aye expected to-day. This morning the old boys will attend the roll-call and official reception at the school,' where Sir James • Parr will be the principal speaker. At 1.30 p.m. Rugby matches will be played on th© High School gully ground between school and local old boys, visitors’ second, fifteen and local old boys, and visitors’'first fifteen and local old boys’ first fifteen. The jubilee dinner, will be held in the evening. To-morrow there will be a church parade at St.' Mary’s in the morning. In the afternoon a visit will be paid to the North Egfaont mountain house. On Monday there will be a cricket match between ‘Old- Boys and School and various activities connected with athletics, tennis-, golf, bowling, shooting and swimming. In the evening a ball will be held in the assembly hall. Those interested in cricket ar® to be catered for by a match between the Kilbirnie Club and a Taranaki -representative team commencing this morning on Pukekura Park and continuing on Monday. The visitors have made a name for themselves in the Wellington competitions and they are to be opposed by a strong provincial selection. At Waitara. on Monday there will be a match between players in New Plymouth senior B grade cricket and players in the Thursday competition, in Which. Waitara,, Stratford, Inglewood and Eltham are concerned. The-. Hawera Trotting Club’s meeting will commence to-day and will be continued on Monday, Special excursion trains are being run by the Railway Department. Admission charges have been reduced and keen contests are assured on a good course. - The annual three-day tournament of the New Plymouth Golf Club will .begin this morning on: the Waiwakaiho links. The entry has been, described as one, of the best yet from the point of view of qifality. - . The seven-a-side tournament at Kaponga to-day will no doubt attract a large number of Rugby enthusiasts, especially as a special interest has . been given to the contests by the entry of teams from Lower Hutt, Masterton and Te Puke. ■ .'

The fire brigades of’ Taranaki w;ll to-day hold a demonstration on the camp reserve, Waitara, beginning at 9 a.m. Other attractions to-day will include the annual sports and picnic at Hur worth, where features will be chopping, sawing, cycling and athletic events, and the Urenui School picnic. One of the: main attractions, in New Plymouth 'on Monday will be ■ the, annual gala, and picnic at Kawaroa Park. Children and picnic parties will be specially catered for and there will be •Highland dancing competitions. At Ngaere Gardens Messrs Lester Bros, have arranged for a New Plymouth .orchestra to provide music for dancing on the green on Monday afternoon.

Bowlers - are well catered for over the Easter holidays. The open tournament conducted by. the New Plymouth: Club .will be concluded to-day and the open tournament at Hawera will be continued to-day and Monday. At Urenui on Monday a one-day tournament is scheduled.

Parachute descents' are 'to be made by Mr. S. Fraser at Hawera this afternoon and at Eltham to-morrow.
