GRAIN AND PRODUCE
AUCKLAND SUPPLIES. POTATOES PLENTIFUL. . Auckland, March 22. Potatoes are still in ample supply from pukekohe, and the suburban districts, and the market is distinctly easy, with merchants quoting £6 per ton ex store. Little interest is being taken in southern quotations. The onion market has eased. Such export inquiries as were about seem to have vanished, and with growers thrown back on the domestic demand the price has dropped. Stocks are going rapidly into consumption at 6s 3d per bushel. With a prospective shortage of maize in the Dominion, merchants are again giving attention to importations from South Africa, but shipping arrangements have not so far been completed. Oats are unchanged, with B Gartons commanding 4s 3d per bushel; and chaff is still selling at £8 10s per ton. Bran and pollard are both unchanged. Pollard is selling freely at £6 10s per tea through merchants’ stores.
